Cold tires (?) in GPL

Cold tires (?) in GPL

Hello all GPL fans.

Am I a lousy driver (probably, but I'm having fun still) or is it true that
at the beginning of races, my car, and my car alone is on cold tires while
the AI seem to have better control / grip?

I find that I'm slipping and sliding for at least a lap before I can gain
enough confidence and grip to attack and follow the leaders.  Yesterday for
instance, I qualified 2nd at SPA.  Well at Masta I was having the hardest
time staying in 5th position.

If there is a solution or an explanation, please let me know.  BTW, this is
the best car racing simulation ever.

It's true. They've modeled tire temperature (you can see it in the set up
window)

You've just got to take it easy, and do some sliding to get heat into the
tires. The AI cars just seem to be able to adapt to a lower level of grip
much easier than any damned human!!!

Best of luck

Doug

The tyres can take up to 3 laps to get upto full working temperature, the AI
are affected but it seems to make less difference to them than to us (or I'm
just a ***driver :) )

This minor innaccuracy in the program bugs me too.  I'm already bad enough,
especially at the start, when my lame computer delivers about 8 FPS, then they
throw in this unfair situation.  Anyway, if you jump into someone elses car
when starting a session, even practice, you will find that thier oil
temperature is already hot.  From this I surmise that their tire temperature is
too.  Guess it was just too easy, so they threw in another challenge.
