Viper 330 4meg w/3.0 drivers and GPL! It works!

Over the weekend I loaded up GPL and tried using my Viper 330 4meg card with
the OpenGL beta patch, with out too much success.  Everything would work
untill the game actually when to the driving screen.  Win95 would the
crash.... Bummer!  Then, last night, I was trying to find a newsgroup or
something on the Viper 330, to see if anyone else had had success in using
this card.  While on the Diamond Site, I noticed was new drivers posted
1/28/99 (V 3.0 with 3DNow support).  "Cool", I said....  So, I download the
3.5 meg file and install the new drivers.  I wonder, do you think GPL will
work?  Only mentioned in the readme file that they added 3DNow support.  So,
I try it!  To my amazement, it was working!!!!  In the practice mode,
sitting there on Pit road, I was geting 34-36 fps....  Now! Now! Hold on! I
wasn't expecting much so,  I had already turned of about 60-70% of all of
the graphics.  Actual driving, dropped the fps to 28-34 fps.  With some
playing around, I was able to get 28-30 in 800X600...  Haven't tried traffic
yet.  Got the drivers at 12:30am...  Was it the drivers, or was it something
else??  Oh, the graphics are no where near the quaility of the Rendition
cards (which a firend of mine has) or the Voodoo2 (Which my brother has).
But, hey! It works!

Not into it like most of you are, but if you need any info, just ask.

Viper 330 4meg w/3.0 drivers and GPL! It works!

I had been using the nVidia reference drivers with my V330 for a while now
and was able to get 800x600 in OpenGL.  Like you said, the frame rates are
pretty good when not in traffic, although the image quality is not the
greatest.   Just got the delivery notice for my CL TNT board tonight...can't
wait to try it out tomorrow.  I finally decided to upgrade the V330.  Did
the new Diamond drivers slow down your D3D?
