To anyone who is wondering:
Here is the email I got back from Computer *** World magazines
Lloy Case (Contributing Editor for hardware) about some questions
that I had sent to him.
The Viper 330 will run some 3Dfx games--those that were written for
Direct3D, but only tested on 3Dfx cards. An example of this is
Mechwarrior
Mercenaries.
However, the image quality may not be quite as good as 3Dfx, for a
couple of reasons. Developers tend to tune for 3Dfx, if that's what
they have.
Also, the drivers for the chip on the Viper 330 are still evolving. We
occasionally see "seams" between polygons with the RIVA 128 boards;
nVidia and the board vendors know about this and are working on new
driver updates.
Still, it's a good chip, and the Viper is a good board. Check the
Diamond web site for driver updates.
The Viper will NOT run games written specifically for 3Dfx using 3Dfx's
own GLIDE programming interface. Yes, you can run a 3Dfx board
alongside a
Viper. If the game doesn't let you choose which card to run on, the
3Dfx board will
often become the default choice, although the "primary" card is the
choice of some
games. GLIDE games will run on the 3Dfx board, and the Viper won't get
in the way.

The Pure3D runs fine alongside the Viper.
