Psygnosis' Formula 1 Joystick Problem

Yes, I know, its not much of a simulation :)
Nevertheless, it was bundled with my Diamond Monster 3d, and i would
like to play it.
Unfortunatley, the game won't let me choose joystick as an input device.
In fact, "keyboard" seems to be the only option, although joystick is
supposed to be available as an option too.
My joystick (Wingman Light, 2 Button) is configured correctly under the
Windows 95 control panel and works fine with other games (including the
Formula 1 97 demo).
Has anyone else encountered this problem and/or knows a solution ?

Thanks !

Jo

It will work with a gamepad, but NOT a joystick/wheel. They released a
patch or two that was supposed to address this problem, but did not.

Psygnosis F1 was bundled with my wheel (Digital Edge F1 sim) and uses the
wheel fine. There's no setup or calibration screen though - it just works.
Pity about your version. I think Psygnosis think PC owners are about as
discerning as Playstation owners when it comes to racing games.

Psygnosis' Technical Support in the UK sent me a patch that solved my
joystick problem.
Since it seems there have been previously released patches that did not
work, maybe this is a new one (might be a beta ? don't know). It does
not seem to be accessable via the Formula 1 Home Page at
http://www.psygnosis.com/f1pc/index.html although there are some other
patches for the game, so i suggested to them it would be a good idea to
put it right there.
