Thank you smogbike! Your new Daytona Tri-oval and Daytona - Rolex
Road course are great!

(they are at http://www.racesimcentral.net/)

Arto

PS And I love the AI at the Tri-oval: I won by 14 sec. my first race,
   started 2nd... ;)  But Rolex wasn't that easy... ;-/

Pretty neat track...but the entry to and the exit from the road course don't
seem very accurate...smogbike, did you have any testers that have actually
raced at daytona?  I have raced there a few times...maybe I am remembering
it incorrectly...has anyone else run there and can give their opinions?  The
entry back onto the oval feels more like C***te's entry to the oval...But
like I said, maybe I am just remembering incorrectly.

Howdy ho, Jesse,

The layout of the track itself, I am very confident on ... worked from aerial
photos and track marshal's maps printed by DIS, all from the late 60's to early
70's, as well as extensive track measurements made available at DIS's official
website ...

The entry onto the road course LOOKS rather different from reality due to the
difficulties in GPL of creating a straight road [the pit lane] alongside a
curved road ... Papyrus solves this prob and a few others by creating a  HUGE
3do that models the entire corner [especially at Monaco] ... but that's a bit
beyond my capabilities.

Also, the layout of the road course has changed several times ... the current
Turns 1 and 2 are substantially different from 1967 ... and photos from recent
races make T7 [the re-entry to the oval] look both more "square" and more highly
banked than indicated on the 1967 track map ... I know photos can deceive, but
perhaps historical differences account for the discrepencies you note.

Beta testers with experience at Daytona?? I'm lucky that Gianni ***bath, my
main betatester, needs me to stay alive to provide him a "safe house" in the
Federal Witness Program!

Yr friend in the aether,
smogbike
