I've just bought this great game at a second hand shop...
I know there is a newer version...can you tell me anything about it?
Are there other games similar to it and how do they compare?
What I'm really looking for is good scenery + phisics with very long
tracks.

Thanks for any reply,

Alex.

It is indeed a great game, and as far as I understand MBWR 2 isn't out yet.

True, WR2 is not out yet.  It is based on the Volkswagen group, which
includes Bugatti and Lamborghini.  The official site is here:

http://www.synetic.de/

They also made a game called Mercedes-Benz Truck Racing which is, to say
the least, a unique but fun game.  To have one of these beasts going
175mph+ is quite an experience.  Braking and turning is another issue as
I don't think they have ABS.  I don't remember the tracks being
particularly long though, but it's a great game and can most likely be
bought quite cheaply now.

Of course, for long tracks I think the Nordschliefe.  The only games I
know of that have it are:

Grand Prix Legends
Gran Turismo 4 (PS2)
Enthusia Racing (PS2)
Forza Motorsports (XBox)

There was also an add-on made of it for EA's F1 Challenge (PC) and it's
quite good.

F50-GT

Nascar Racing 2003 now has long tracks too, including the original 'ring.
