when clicking on the MP symbol nothing happens.
Did d/l the 1.55 patch (about 4.4mb),installed that.
Do you need any special version (patch 1.44)?

The multiplayer is reached via the desktop shortcut ("World Racing
Multiplayer") that should be there after you run the patch, you can't access
the multiplayer from the in-game menu.

Same exact thing here -- clicking on the "Multiplayer Lobby" desktop
icon does nothing.  I've posted a couple of queries in the Blackhole
Motorsports World Racing forum, but nobody from TDK has responded.

Non-functional multiplayer support is another nail in the coffin for
me -- it goes nicely with the intermittent engine sound under braking
and the unwanted steering assist . . .

:-(

Mercedes Benz World Racing Multiplayer Patch

Holy shite, John.  If you're giving up the ghost on this game, I'm sure as
hell not going to expend any more effort to come to grips with it.

Like you all, I got no response from clicking the shortcut WR placed on the
desktop, nor from clicking on the executable in the folder.

Oh well, I shoulda known better from the tinny engine sounds, cartoon
physics, and Area 51 mentality....

Mercedes Benz World Racing Multiplayer Patch

by jbod » Sun, 30 May 2004 04:11:56

I haven't really given up on it, Steve, but MBWR has failed to really
grab my attention as I hoped it would.  After Mercedes-Benz TRUCK
Racing (MBTR), I expected great physics and NFSPU-type playability
from MBWR, but the physics have seemed somewhat "stunted" to me, and
the playability just isn't as immersive as NFSPU.  So, while the
physics are nice enough, there just don't seem to be any real "hooks"
for me in MBWR to keep me coming back for more -- the historic cars
are nice, but why didn't they START with those, then work more
progressively towards the more modern cars, a la NFSPU?

As it is, MBWR comes off as nothing more engaging than an extended
interactive commercial for the Mercedes-Benz brand, and in that
respect, NFSPU and Ford Racing 2 served as MUCH better "interactive
adverti***ts," IMO.  In fact, NFSPU left me lusting for Porsches in
general (historic, vintage, modern-day, etc.), and Ford Racing 2 has
even left me considering what it would be like to own a Ford Focus SVT
or a Mustang on occasion -- and I'm not what you would call a "Ford
guy."  MBWR, on the other hand, has just left me feeling curiously
like it just simply missed the mark.

Synetic and TDK have the basics of a good physics engine readily at
hand, but I think they dumbed things down a bit much with MBWR.
Hopefully World Racing 2 will hit closer to the mark -- and with
things like Ford Racing 2 and Race Driver 2 to show them how good
sequels CAN be (and how "fun" race sims with relatively convincing
physics can be executed), they SHOULD be able to hit a little closer
to the mark next time around.

This time, though, they definitely missed the mark for me.
