Grand Prix II and Presario 1621

Hi everybody,

I am having a very strange problem. I just upgraded my notebook to a Compaq
Presario 1621. It is a AMD K-6 233MMX with 32 mb of RAM and a 128 bit Video
Adapter.

I installed GP2 in it. No matter with kind of installation I used, I got the
same problem. As soon as I start a race, if I press A to accelerate the car,
I start hearing a bip on the machine. Seems like the keyboard buffer is
overunning. The game gets umplayable. Like 1 FPS. If I do not press any key,
and change the focus to another car, I can see that the game runs very nice,
with almost all graphics on.

I got the same problem even on VGA with all graphics off.

Doesn't matter if I have EMM386 or HIMEM installed. The problem just allways
happens.

Have anybody seem this before and have a workaround. I really like this
game.

Regards,

Roberto
ps: I am not using a joystick because this machine uses a PCMCIA controler
by Texas and the enabler from ESP Game Card is not beeing able to recognize
it.

I can't answer your keyboard problem, but I have an Extensa notebook
with the TI 1130 CardBus controller.  I have no problems recognizing
my JC Game Card Pro under W95 or DOS.  I obtained a set of Phoenix
Card drivers from the ACER/TI web site for my notebook to allow the
use of PC-Cards under DOS.  I don't know if I can help you or not,
but if you have any questions I can try to answer.

Stephen
p.s. and to all those who say that real men don't play GP2 with
a keyboard, I counter that at least keyboard notebook players can
do half a race while commuting to work on the train!

2-If that doesnt work go *** and make a boot floppy for dos.
3-REALLY ***
Load GP2 pull up windows do CTRL-ALT-DEL and start elminating tsrs and

reminder and all that other c rap.
