Internet Racing? F1RS? GPL?

by Jalo » Fri, 09 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Me and some guy's at work want to play racing games over the internet. There
are 4 or 5 of us. Can we use F1RS? Can we use GPL? I checked F1RS and I
couldn't find anything dealing with IP's. Has any one tried GPL over the
internet (if possible)? Also most of us are not serious racing gamers, would
GPL be too much for us to handle?

Yes but it seriously sucks.. (and using the word sucks is the real word for
it)

Sure, and to say in FACTS, GPL has the best online racing I ever saw after
the NROS (with Nascar Racing 2). All the Microsoft racing games and others
online are nothing compared to GPL. I've seen 15driver races with everybody
on a 28.8 except the host on a cable-modem.

F1RS is limited to IPX-network internet racing, so the places where you
should check out are zone.com (there's an IPX area) and also Kali.

With Throttle help, it can be really fun. And Im about sure that if
everybody tweaks his gpl to take Trainee and Advanced-trainee cars you can
race with them over the 'net (you should still trust them).  GPL is very fun
online. You may need a little bit of tweaking but it's worth the price.

- Official Mentally retarded guy of r.a.s.
- Excuse me for my English (I'm French speaking)
- Sponsored by http://www.awpss.com/ on the NROS

Internet Racing? F1RS? GPL?

F1RS is a great game but has the crappiest internet play you could imagine. You
have to jumps through all kinds of hoops and in the end you can only play 1-2-1.
Great on a LAN though.
I've yet to get my paws on it but the Internet play on GPL is supposed to be the
business.

Internet Racing? F1RS? GPL?

Don't by F1RS. Buy it's successor, Monaco Grand Prix which will have an all
new internet game service included with it. I bought both GPL and MGP
actually with the hope that the internet racing will be good.
