Anderstorp for GPL released

Hi everyone,

After working on the GPL-version of the Anderstorp track for a long
time we finally think it is ready for release. The track hosted
Formula One World Championship races from 1973-1978.

Anderstorp has the feel of an airfield circuit, is relatively flat and
has wide open grassy runoff zones. It is a tight and twisty circuit
but includes a 30m wide and 1km long straight which is also used as a
runway. For a road circuit several of its corners are very banked. One
peculiar thing about the track is that the Start/Finish line is not
located near the pits.

Enjoy the racing here!  :)

Excellent news!
Thank you, Martin, all all those involved in the project.

Now, could you ALL pool your collective talents and produce Mount Panorama
(Bathurst) please? :-)

I'll say the same, thanks to all involved in the creation of the track.
Can't wait to port them all into Nascar Racing 4.

and let me also say a big "thanks!" for including an excellent setup, and
the lite version as well. very important. I tried both and could tell no
difference but for the better FPS on the lite vers.

I also have to say, superb default car setup.  Very realistic, and easy to
drive.. and a lot of fun too.  Good job..

Hell, I knew I'll buy N4, but I actually forgot this, most important,
reason why to buy it (I prefer road tracks even with NASCAR cars).

What's this Bathurst anyway? Not some nondescript yankee oval?

Dave Henri

Good Question.  Actually,  Bathurst is a Track in Austrailia, at a place
called Mt. Panorama.  They anually hold a 1000k race there for Touring
cars. For several years, the big BTCC teams would also attend a Super
Touring event there as well.
Magnificent course.  A long straight sets you up for a sudden right hand
turn,
you immeadately begin climbing up the side of a mountain, the first left
hander
is a very tight switchback then you blast onto the top of the mountain, a
short couple of sweepers takes you to a very TIGHT plunge  back down.  At
the bottom, another long straight with a couple of near-ninety degree turns
brings you back to the pit straight.
And yes it has been re-created VERY well for SCGT and hopefully soon for
F1CS2k.  I am pretty sure the file format differnces between Papyrus tracks
and the 'other' companies that use 3d modeling programs will make a
conversion difficult.  However...Marc over at 'The Sim Project' is
attempting to convert some of the old Indycar Racing 2 road courses over to
the SCGT file format...if he is sucessful, then a project to reverse
engineer the SCGT tracks into a Papyrus format 'might' be possible.
