I usually have a lot of oversteer in qualify, which I reduce for the race.

The trick to that is, if you can do it, set up your car for qualifying so
you can get as much speed as possible through the turns without slowing
down too much.  It's hell on the tires, but hey, who cares.  It's only
for 2 laps.  3 at Talladega.  Then set it up again for the race so you
can stay out as long as possible.  I can never stay out as long as the AI
cars can though.

If you're using a good qual set-up, you should be shredding your
tires to ground hamburger. Can't do that on Race day, or you'll need to
pit too often! Also, qual set-ups should be geared for acceleration,
while race is more of a consistent less-revving gearing.
Remember, qual set-ups are for straight speed, while race set-ups
are for passing, moving around, and tire wear.

Somewhere like Talladega it's not a huge difference, but at other
places, Michigan, Martinsville, Atlanta..it is.
