Jack -- Nail that track...

Just as you were typing some info in (chat) last night after the race
Jack.. my PC LOCKED solid... didn't get a chance to reply.

Thanks for hosting that race! Man, the Long setting is REALLY tough at
Monaco. I gotta finish my wheel/pedals project because a j-stick is a
real pain there. I'm also gonna order the rest of the stuff for my
Celery system because my current setup is WAY too slow.

That was my first race there... as difficult as it was it could be my
last. IMHO, Monaco is THE most challenging track in GPL. The Ring is
tough, but once you learn it, it is relatively decent.

Am I alone in feeling that the car at Monaco is on ice, or is it just my
bad setup? Driving it is also like... accel, stop, turn, accell, stop,
turn... etc. That ultra low-speed stuff is frustrating... I love the
fast sweeps of Zandvoort much, MUCH more...

Dave...

Nice win for you and The Toad last night!

Whether or not everyone agrees that Monaco is the most challenging track, I
think everyone will agree that it's certainly the most unique. And from what
I've seen, it's clearly the most fatiguing You simply don't hear as many
drivers complain of being exhausted after the race at the other tracks. I
think a lot of it has to do with there being no place to relax there. As you
described it, it's go, stop, turn, go, stop, turn! No long straights where
you can *blink* and catch your breath, at Monaco it's measure, measure,
measure!

I think the cream really rises to the top at Monaco because to be really
quick there requires amazing car control. I, personally, keep working at it
in hopes of being able to rocket through the chicane in the 150 mph
neighborhood lap after lap like the top guys! But one thing's for certain,
when the "Nail That Track" Monaco series concludes on Friday night, we'll
all be much faster in the principality then we were when we started.

See you tonight, Dave!

Interested in participating in the "Nail That Track" series?

See the thread here entitled: ""Nail That Track" Training Race Series moves
to Monaco" for a schedule for the remainder of the Monaco series and the
upcoming Rouen series.

Responsible, "in-control" drivers of varying skill levels are encouraged to
participate.

A precautionary note for mid-fielders and backmarkers: Don't try to race
with the big boys!...I can't and none of the rest of us that fill out the
field can. They're at the front for a reason! So when you're blue flagged,
think ahead for the next spot where you can yield a little track and let the
bullet fly! You'll have a much better race and so will the leaders!

Jack, know that you probably run this series at the times listed for a specific
reason, BUT, any chance of running them 1/2 to 1 hour earlier. I work steady
nights and have to leave the house by 1100-1115. Therefore I can't make any of
your races, and I want desperately to do so. Unfortunately weekends are not good
as I travel a lot.
I hope to make Fridays race, they sound like good fun. It kills  me to see your
race listed and not be able to participate.

DPHI

Hey, I've got no problem moving over for a faster driver, I just wish they'd
give me time! I've only been racing on VROC since Sunday, had a couple of great
races and was real enthused about it, but last night the same guy rammed me
twice in the braking zone for the Curva Grande during practice. On both
occasions, I was already set up for the turn and there was no way to move
off-line until the exit. I know that there is plenty of warping in online
races, and I'm hoping he just didn't see me until it was too late :-)
