Anyone had probs running GP3 with overclocked CPU?

by Rafe McAulif » Wed, 07 Feb 2001 11:51:29

Hi there, I was wondering whether anyone else was able to run GP3
while their CPU was overclocked. The game runs fine when I set the CPU

flips out when I get into the car. The car just lifts into the air and
goes crazy as soon the game starts (practice, race, whatever)

Really weird, since EVERY other program I use has no probs at that CPU
speed, incl GPL, nascar legends, RC2000, etc.

I know the easy thing is just to turn it down to default 400 mhz, but
I want to run it with more CPU power, to prevent any slowdowns.

My system is: celeron 400 (at 540mhz)
V3 3000 running at either 166 (stock) or 200 (o'clocked)
128mb ram
GP3 v1.13
etc. etc.

BTW, happens independently of video card speed whether o'clocked or
not.

Any suggestions, or similar stories?

Anyone had probs running GP3 with overclocked CPU?

I'm able to adjust the agp and pci bus dividers (Abit BE6-II), so
they're running at  60 and 30 mhz respectively. I figured that that
must be the problem, but it's a bit odd, since no other game has any
problems.

I wish windows was a bit more stable to run at 100mhz fsb, since Linux
doesn't have a problem at 642 mhz (107 fsb). oh well, such is life!

I might try reinstalling on my system while o'clocked, see if that
helps.

>Does your mobo have an adjustment for the AGP & PCI busses?  I'd bet
>it's the 90MHz fsb thats causing your headache.
