How to overclock my CPU?

by Graeme Nas » Mon, 05 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

I know this is a bit of a long shot but does anyone out there know how I
could go about overclocking my MMX P200 on an Intel i430VX motherboard?
I would like to get it up to 225MHz or maybe even 233. I'm very new to
overclocking but I really need every ounce of power out of my CPU in
time for the UK release of GPL!
As I said, I'm very new to overclocking and I don't really have much
info on it. Like, for example, how dangerous it is to my system? (I mean
temperatures etc)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

There is an excellent source of information at  www.tomshardware.com  , do
check out the overclockers guide . BTW I have my 200mmx running at 262 (3.5
x 75) and its been completly stable and running this way for about 1 year or
so.
Best of luck and remember to be careful,
Peter

Hi,

Thanks for your help but unfortunately I found out today that I can't
overclock my CPU as my motherboard (an i430VX) only supports up to 3x66.
It also won't let me upgrade my CPU any higher so I guess I'll have to
try to save up for a new PC - And I'm only 16!

Cheers!
