Well, for all those that have been sitting on the fence wondering
whether or not to get one of these cards, I hope you find this quick
post useful.  I picked up my card at the postal outlet yesterday.
Installation couldn't have been easier.  Just opened her up, swapped
cards and turned the system on.  Win 95 picked it up right away and
asked for a new driver disk, and voila, Bob's your uncle!  Took all of
5 minutes.
Now, for the meat and potatoes...what about performance?  All I can
say is incredible!  I was already happy with my old video card and was
having a bit of buyers remorse while I was waiting for the Sierra card
to come in, but WOW!  Well worth every penny and then some.  All the
tracks I've tried in the last day have been simply gorgeous.  I'm
running a P133 with EVERYTHING turned on in Nascar 2 and I've gotta
say it all works fantastic.  Very smooth and the detail in very nice
indeed.  I'm not an Indycar fan but I had a look at the ICR-2 tracks
and I think I'll be playing around with these a bit.  The normal SVGA
Indycar tracks look dull and lifeless compared to them.  You really
gotta see them to appreciate them.  Very nice.
And Quake.  Hmmm. Quake.  Running in 640 * 400 is absolutely amazing.
I've tried turning quickly, looking up and down while running and
jumping and I can't get this beast to slow down noticably at all.  I'm
going to replay the entire game in single player now just to see it in
its splendid glory!  Wow.
So there you have it.  Very easy to install and makes the only two
games that I'm really "into" come alive!  And I haven't noticed any
slowdown in my WIN 95 performance either, although I'll be the first
to admit that I play games and not much else, so I don't demand too
much out of Windows.  The only question I have is why in the hell did
I wait so long to get one of these?
What are you waiting for?  Go get one of the Rendition cards and crank
up those framerates!

What about the VooDoo based cards? I hear they are EVEN faster. Rather,
just about all game mags recommend the VooDoo cards over all others.
Sure they are more expensive but worth it. Still, I am waiting for the
next gen of 3D cards. At the top is the Orchid Rush. A 2D/3D card with
128bit 2D chip and a newer 3D 3DFX chip that will push even more
polygons per second. This card will be out early '97. I think that will
be my choice. Too bad Nascar2 doesn't support the VooDoo chipset. It's a
shame Sierra didn't set it up to work with more chipsets.
