what about Cadwell?  ok so it's narrow but it's got hyooge elevation
changes - imagine the air you could get over the mountain! As far as i
know there were no GP class races held there but it does have a lot of
history and the circuit layout hasn't changed in *ages* (apart from a
***bus stop chicane which was in use for a few years)

Come on you know you wanna!

Oulton and Knockhill also get my vote, Knockhill was a blast in TOCA but
I've never been. Went to Oulton once but you don't get to see much of
the circuit and I wasn't very impressed.

What about Hockenheim before the crappo chicanes?

Le Mans?

I like the Isle of Man suggestion, might be a long job though eh?

It's fantastic that now there are two "sources" of excellent GPL
add-on tracks.

The British tracks might be well known and in proximity to the
developers, but apart from the IoM Mountain Course, they lack IMHO a
little bit in the lenght & curves departement. >:->

My favourite is of course the Solitude, the former race track near
Stuttgart, Germany which was used for several German motorcycle GPs,
plus non-Championship F1 races in the 60s.

It's "only" half as long as the Nuerburgring Nordschleife, but twice
as exciting. ;-)

Here some facts, taken from the 1962 program:
====
Lenght of track: 11,417 km
Elevation difference: 123,33 Meter
Width of track: 8-12 Meter ( 24 Meter at S/F)
Biggest rise: 15 % between Glemseck and Hedersbachebene
Biggest drop: Frauenkreuz to Dreispitz 11 %
Biggest banking: In Hedersbachkurve 14%
Smallest Radius: 37 Meter in Hedersbachkurve
Number of corners:  26 Left plus 19 Right = 45 Curves
Longest straight: 550 Meter between Steinbachsee and Bsnau

Lap records:
Bikes: 153,6 km/Std. 1956 Bill Lomas (England) Moto Guzzi 500
Cars:   172,2 km/Std. 1961 Dan Gurney (USA) Porsche Formel 1
====

If anybody is interested in making a track (for GPL, GP2 or whatever),
I can provide some maps and pictures (no website available yet,
though).

Nope...it wasn't used....not for GPs anyway. (In fact, I don't think it even
existed in 1967).

I'll second this. Bathurst looks like an awesome track. But as a 30yr
motorcyclist, it would make my life complete if I could learn the Isle
of Man the way I've been able to learn the Nurburgring.  Hey, lets have
both of them !!

I think you'll find that that is 11.417 km, not 11 thousand...

In Germany, the "." and "," within numbers are used differently
compared to the way they do it in the US.
That makes using Excel quite interesting ... :-/

How about...Monza with the banking?  Or Monaco with the "glass wall"
removed so we can re-enact James Garner going into the harbor?  :)
