Nascar 2002 Lockups

by Richard Perkin » Wed, 30 Jan 2002 04:45:22

Has anybody had a problem with the Nascar 2002 demo locking up when it gets
to the race, or test session menus?  The normal menus work fine for me, but
when I try to go to a test session or race the menu screens are all
garbaged up and the PC freezes solid.  The only thing I can do is a hard
reboot.  I even tried the "learn the track" feature and Darrel gets a
couple of words out and it freezes.

My system:

Dell Dimension 700 MHz PIII
512MB RAM
GeForce DDR 64MB

Thoughts?  It's getting frustrating changing a setting then rebooting
before I can try another change.

TIA
Rich

I haven't tried N4 on this PC since I had to format the C: drive and
reinstall everything from scratch.  N4 use to work fine before I rebuilt the
machine.

Just a folllow-up.  I just installed N4 on my machine and tested it with
both OpenGL and Direct3D and both work fine.  Re-configured the graphics
options on Nascar 2002 Demo and tried it again and it still freezes when I
went to the Race option.  This time the menus came up but it froze when I
selected the drive option.  Bummer!

Something similar happened to me.  But it was in random menus, once in
garage and once in the graphics option screen.  Seemed to happen I rolled
over one of them noisy pointers with the mouse, suggesting a soundcard
issue, imo.

Abit KT7
T-Bird 800
256 MB PC133 RAM
Xtasy GEForce 3 Ti 500
SBLive! Value

Another post mentioned turning off the 3D Sound option, but mine was already
unchecked.

I have a Vortex sound card and I do have the 3D sound turned on.  I'll try
turning it off tonight and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks
Rich
