Rockwell V.90 Modems

My friend bought a computer with a Rockwell V.90 modem.  We tried to connect
to Ten but he often got the message, Please log off and try again.  I guess
his bandwidth wasn't that good.  He finally got on and raced.  Mr Bandwidth
said his connection was Good.  I connected to Ten with my USR Sportster V.90
and Mr. Bandwidth says Excellent.  We have the same ISP and live in the same
city and dial into the same Pop.  Does anyone have any info on the Rockwell
modems so that he can connect with a more reliable connection?

He should visit the manufactuer's website(not Rockwell but whomever built
the modem) and
get Firmware updates.  Now if he has a winmodem, tell him to do the
following.
a. open case
b. remove mounting***on winmodem
c. remove winmodem
d. PITCH IT AS FAR AS HE CAN!

insert a modem with an onboard controller for better perfomance.

Is it a WinModem?

If so, it's gotta go if you're going to do online racing...

WinModems are software based, and you need all your horsepower running
your car, not emulating a modem in software.

WinModems are one of the biggest ripoff's today.
