"The people in the stands, for example, feature little-to-no texturing
and poor animation."

Obviously this isn't a true simulation or the stands would be empty.

Perhaps the "poor animation" means that they're asleep? :)

Seriously - who gives a rat's that the crowd is not animated?
As far as I'm concerned the very >last< thing I pay any heed to in a racing
sim is the quality of the crowd representation.

But then I s'pose Playstation 'n' X-Box owners need this sort of kitsch. :)

:)

Well, hmmph. I'm going to sulk with my PS2 and never play GPL again ;-)

There, there, Nick. :)
It's okay - my son has an X-Box and there's many a time that I've enjoyed
one of his games.
(Mind you - I'm no ***y good with those little console controllers!)

No mirrors, no USB wheels support, car dynamics not strictly realistics...

Papy make a CART - IRL sim please!

Truthfully, I'm usually too busy trying to keep from knocking down fences to
even notice if there ARE people in the stands.

Ouch... :-)

Hehe, and how much did you pay to upgrade from digital keyboard control ???

There was a well-known racing driver who, upon seating himself in the
***pit, reached out and broke the mirror off with the statement "That's is
unnecessary weight".

With regard to USB wheel support, the review was for the console version and
as for "not strictly realistic" car dynamics - show me one simulation which
can >genuinely< use that term.

enough so I can't replace that noisy shrieking fan I just got....for the
record, I have Logitech MOMO pedals(the wheel is dead) combined with a
Thrustmaster Nascar Pro Digital 2 combo which has a dead paddle shifter and
a dead brake pedal.  So I steer and use the NPD2's stick shifter but the
gas and brake come from the MOMO.  The Momo was 79 dollars{reconditioned} I
think and the Pro was 29 dollars(USA){used}
I've got a couple of old old Thrustmaster Joysticks that retailed for
over a hundred bucks each and a throttle that used to work with them.
hehehe.  I really want that new Thrustmaster stick, what is that?  300bucks
or something like that?  Not bad since I don't have time to fly anymore.
I guess if I'm gonna be as bad a sim racer as I am, I'd rather be bad by
my own imputs rather than some digital replacement keyboard inputs.  LOL!

Hehe, that sounds like a pretty weird rig you have there... are all the dead
bits due to genuine failures or just sim racing ***???

I have a Destiny FF wheel which retailed at 130 UK apparently but was being
sold off at Toys 'R Us for 13... I thought it was going to be dodgy but
it's actually pretty damn good. Shame I can't get it to work on this
computer, dunno if it's an XP problem or just me... I wish I could justify a
MOMO, the metal one, which I could plug into my PS2 as well, but I'm not
that rich (nor do I have a desk in my lounge to put it on ;-)

As for flying, I managed to pick up a Saitek Cyborg 3D stick for 10 too.
It's amazing for the price, and you can twist it for rudder control... Great
for heli flying in FS2002. I really like the look of that Saitek X45
aluminium stuff though, but again, it all comes down to /$$$/yenyenyen or
whatever. And I'm not too good with hundreds of buttons, switches, slidey
things and hats all over the place. HOTAS my ass, there's a perfectly good
keyboard in front of me, if I want landing gear i'll hit G, okay ???

Wow, Dave, with that list, I'm picturing you surrounding by controls
like the flight sim guys with home-built***pits.  :-)

well most of the old hardware sits in piles, Infact I use a pair of T2
Thrustmaster pedals to keep my Logitech pedals from sliding back to the
wall.  :)  I've got more ***in this room that a rat's nest.  Keeps the
friends of my kids away... :)
Organization is NOT my strong suit...kinda like my sim racing
abilities...
