Ok... I've gotten my time down to 1:02 (plus a few more hundreths)...
I'm driving in sim mode with all helps off, except I still have
autoshifting on (I havent gotten to the point in most sims where I can
concentrate on driving and trying to shift well too... I'll either
forget to shift, or be shifting and go out of control)
I need some tips to shave another couple seconds off my time... there is
a setup that comes with demo 2.2, but for some reason I cant load it.
Also, will learning to shift help my times much?
Anyone also have any tips about the best lines to take around
Silverdale?

er, but you can save like 8 different setups. in the setup screen
i think you press File or something, then Save, and click on an
available slot and give it a name.

manual shifting usually helps, in order to pick the best power band
of the engine for any given corner. i have noticed you've got to run
around 100/95 wings to get under a minute.

ok, i'll see if i can give you a real quick guide to how i drive
the track to get in the low 59's.

You cross the start line at full speed, moving from over the
right side of the track to take the apex of Turn 1, lining up for
Turn 2. Just before you reach the apex of T2, lift off and get a
bit of oversteer to get around the turn, and then with your foot
mostly off the throttle just scrub speed sliding sideways and
shift into 5th ready to line up with T3. Then drive up the hill,
nothing particularly special here just try to keep pretty close to
the inside. Coming up to the crest of the hill I start turning left
just before the crest, then lift off at the crest to get a bit
of turn-in - it's a tricky corner, trying to line up the apex blind.
then go around that turn (T4?) exiting as far to the left as you
can get, in order to get a good line into T5. T5 requires a dab of
brakes, and you probably already do it fine. T6 is straightfoward,
but try to exit over to the right. Turn into T7 (left) using a lift-off
but try to get a fairly latish apex so you don't drift too far
out into the middle of the track exiting T7/T8. T9 (Right) is tricky,
you have to try to carry as much speed as you can, i enter it fairly
early, lifting off just after i turn in - but only lifting off a bit,
just enough to get the front around and on line with the apex, then
gently power out.

this probably isn't the best description around, but for a better
one i could just sent you my Ghostlap, or a replay of me driving
a 59:00. you can actually watch the ghostlap car as if it's a
normal car, just use page-up to select it as the car you want
to view.
