Hi all.

I was reading a computer magazine the other day and it listed a game called
Dirt Track Racing as the racing game of the year.

Anyone out there have opinions about this? Is it really that good a game? I
play mostly Nascar 3 and some GPL, but am kind of itchy to try something
new. The career mode that the reviewer mentioned for the game sounded pretty
interesting.

Any opinions would be welcome.

I too am a GPL and N3 nut. But DTR is the game I have played the most in
the last few weeks. It has a feel similiar to GPL, but you can swap
paint like N3. I don't even play the career mode, tried it but lost
interest. Online play is fantastic, but its like N3, you gotta find good
racers to have a good race. Try it you'll like it, and at $19.95 it is a
great deal. To get the most out of the game get some good setups before
getting stomped online.

It's been a real bad year for racing games.

Some people really like.

My personal opinion is that for the price it is a good game, but I found
myself getting pretty bored really fast.  That graphics are not that great
if you are looking for eyecandy like N3 or SBK2000.  However, if you do not
care about graphics that much and just want a fun game, then it may appeal
to you.  Pick up the demo and give it a shot before you buy it.

Is this surprising in a year when "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" is the
number one television show and our only choices for president in the new
century are a pot head and a crack head...<vbfg>

Sean, most fun I have had with a racing sim in a long time. I have
followed racing (local late models, Formula 1, CART, NASCAR, etc.) for
the last 30 years but I can say I was never a dirt racing fan. I have
had every computer racing sim that has come out. Most sims are either
easy/boring or too hard to enjoy. Out of the box, I was mildly
impressed with DTR. The lower levels are not too exciting, but after
downloading a sound patch (big improvement), a number of SKINS
(hundreds available), and moving up to the late models things really
started getting fun. The graphics are great at 1024x768 and silky
smooth. You can RACE with this sim - its not overly touchy.

Before you buy.

I've been involved in PC Sims for over 3-4 years and DTR has caught my
attention the most.

FWIW, I have N1, N2, NR1999, N3, CART (aka ICR2), GPL, SODA, F1RS, SCGT,
Motoracer, GP500, AMA Superbike, Castrol Honda Superbike, Burnout, Burnout
PCE, NHRA DR AND Every other decent DEMO

And  DTR is still alot of Fun...the MP is decent, although, I haven't been
able to race in any server based leagues !!!
