Hi,

I have enjoyed running the GPL demo on my Pentium 233Mhz system and will
be interesting to see if there will be a slow down in computer
performance when the rest of the cars are added while racing.

Curious question: How many cars raced back in 1967 on each track?

I guess we will find out in July.

There will definitly be a slow down, because AI cars use cpu cycles.
How much, we'll have to wait and see...

Well, there will almost certainly be one, but that may be offset by
further optimisations.

Hi!

I think gpl isn't even optimized yet. its not a standard demo.
Its only alpha.

For instance: They wrote Fifa96 on Silicon Graphics machines, which cost
over $30.000. Later they reduced the code, so it would even run on a
486dx4/100. And it did ! :-)

G'day David,
It varied....back then there was no requirement for minimum or maximum
numbers.
In some countries....South Africa is a good example.....a few of the locals
would race as well, occasionally with Formula 2 cars or even with F1 cars
fitted with "Formula Libre" engines.
For example.....at the Nurburgring in 1966/67, Formula 2 cars mixed in with
the F1 cars.
However, if you look at the major players in F1 for 1967.......
Brabham = 2 cars (Brabham/Hulme)
Lotus = 2 cars (Clark/Hill)
Ferrari = 2 cars (Amon/Bandini. After Monaco it was Amon/Parkes)
BRM = 2 cars (Stewart/Spence)
Cooper = 2 cars (Bonnier/Rindt,  then Rindt/Rodriguez)
Honda = 1 car (Surtees)
AAR Eagle = 1 car (Gurney)
Rob Walker = 1 car (Siffert)
McLaren = 1 car (McLaren)

So you are looking at around 14 regulars....maybe up to 16.
