: 1). If you start the race at the back of the grid you can sometimes
: see a car in your mirrors (might have been just the left one)
: momentarily, when there is no one behind you (twilight zone stuff).

It could have been the pace car sitting at the end of pit lane.  I have
noticed this in NASCAR.  BTW: at Michigan pull off into the grass and
point your car towards the race track (with your rear up against the
wall).  Guess what you see in the rear view mirrors!

Quite confusing too, but an essential feature if you're to know where
the other cars are without any peripheral vision. Just watch how it
can 'see' a car that's almost entirely in front of you! I still have
to figure out where a mirror car is in relation to its position beside
me on the track. BTW, I am all for this feature, I just have to learn
how to use it...

Run out of fuel and cruise around to the pits. If you don't make it,
even going REALLY slowly (10mph) the wheels sound like they're
skidding!
