LWFF & GPL/N2k2 - force_feedback_latency settings

by Scot » Sat, 03 Aug 2002 23:30:50

I have one of the older, original LWFF wheels.  The FF effects in GPL
have always seems a little bit off (the FF action lagged behind the on
screen action) to me and I was never able to find core.ini settings
that worked.

Last week I bought N2K2 and had the same "FF lags behind" problem as I
had in GPL.  I finally bumped the FF latency setting up to 200+ms and
now the wheel action is WAY better!  The FF actions are not
synchronized with the onscreen action.  Finally!!

So, my question is this... Why does MY wheel require 200-250ms latency
and everyone else uses 10-50ms?  All the core.ini settings I've seen
posted, use latency values much less than 200ms.  Is there something
wrong with my wheel? Or maybe my game port? (I use the original SBLive
card).
