Ed, Adam, Charlie: NASCAR 2 - 3D support question

Having read the previous information regarding the 3D support in NASCAR 2 I have
a question.  Knowing that you folks have to code for each 3D chipset on an
individual basis (because it's written for DOS), what 3D chipsets do you plan on
supporting?  Will it be Verite enabled only?

Hi Frank...Currently, we only plan on supporting the Rendition Verite
chip.  We have no other plans at this moment.  But, that could change once
the product ships.

With Sierra producing its own Rendition based board I doubt we'll see
support for any other chip.  It's a pity, as the Voodoo cards look to be by
far the fastest out there.

Hi Adam,

Can you please tell me which video cards have the Verite chip? I have an
STB Lightspeed 128 card now but will buy whichever card has the Verite.

Right now there will be three released in October perhaps with others soon
to follow.

1. Creative Labs' 3D Blaster PCI
2. Intergraphs' Reactor 3D
3. Sierra On-Line (I don't know the card name, but it's manufactured by
Canopus Corporation)

BTW, VESA 2.0 SVGA modes of the Verite boards is reportably faster than the
Matrox Millennium, but regular VGA is not very impressive.

All will be 4MEG boards (one meg reserved for textures) and retail for
under $200 (NECX has the CL board for $179).  The only real difference
looks to be the bundled software, although I would never buy a Creative
Labs video card.

I can see it now.......to run NCR2, just make a boot disk.  Then
exchange your video card(rendition), reload the driver, now when ready
to go back to your other apps just reboot, take out the rendition
board...............AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH !!!

What are you talking about, why would you have to take out the Rendition
board?  They will work fine in Windows and run all of your DOS programs and
perhaps be even faster than your current video card (early estimates place
it's VESA 2.0 SVGA speed slightly faster than the speedy Matrox
Millennium).
