NR2 AI Etc. - Ed, Charlie, Adam?

: 1. I know that there'll be spotters who will tell you when and where
: accidents occur, but will the spotters also tell you when you have a
: car moving in alongside you?  Knowing if it's clear to drop to the
: inside heading into a turn is pretty vital info that real-life
: spotters provide.  Hopefully NR2 will as well in order to improve the
: SA afforded to the driver.

More importantly, will the AI drivers have spotters?  Letting them know
that a Human driver is under them or on the outside!  As it stands now I
have a better grasp of when I can come down our go up than the AI
drivers.

: 5. Will AI cars that approach a pile-up actually make an attempt to
: drive around it or will they continue to stop completely until the
: cars disappear?

This little feature is what is known as a "local red flag" :)

: 6. Will the behaviour of the AI cars while on the track be improved?
: What I mean is that will the AI continue to bump their noses along the
: outer wall along Bristol?  Will the AI continue to leap out of your
: way around turns if you close in too fast?  Will more intelligent pit
: strategies be evidenced?  Etc.

Also can we keep them from doing the Zig-Zag dance before diving into
the pits?  I've been creamed too many times by this nifty 2-step!  Of
course this feature is known as ("driver waving hand -- indicating
heading for the pits").

Speaking of the pits... Maybe it's just me, but.....
it seems that the AI guys have it easier when it comes to pitting.  They
seem to be able to come flying off the turns, make a sharp left-hand turn
(after executing a sharp right -- kiss the wall) and scream into the
pits.  When they need to, they can turn all 4 wheels hard left and "crab
walk" into their pit stall.  They can also use "crab walk" out.  They
are not checking their mirrors either and will move straight into the
right lane even if their is a car there (usually me).

: 8. Will the yellow flag come out as frequently as it currently does?
: This is an easy one to fix I figure.

Apparently this was not an easy one to fix.  It wasn't fixed until the
Hawaii version and then wasn't presented as a patch.  Sorry about the
minor singe Papy, but this one still hurts. ;-)

I want to know if there'll be spotters to tell me that my wife
is coming up the steps with her arms full of groceries so I can
exit Nascar immediately.

She can carry the groceries ;)  I want to know if I should start
making lots of noise to cover up the 11 'tones' that my modem makes
when it's dialing.  When she hears that, I have to put up with the
endless nagging about the expense of it all.  It's much easier to
intercept the phone bill and pay it quickly!

I guess great minds think alike<g> I usually go start up some
senseless conversation with my wife while my modem is connecting to
alleviate the "nag" factor. I do intercept the phone bill and pay it
out of my "slush" fund (which is beginning to get real low). Now if I
could get the phone company to remove the previous month's stats (in
case she gets to it before me).

Andy,

We're working on it, but so far it looks like we'd need a partnership with
a hardware vendor to do it.  If you can think of any software-only
algorithm for this one, please don't hesitate to call <g>.
