From the SecureRom website(below), boy, the 0.01% you out there sure whine a
lot....   ;-)

"Compatible:
Unlike other systems on the market SecuROMT does not employ
unreadable sectors (C2 errors) on the disc to create an electronic keycode.
Due to its highly advanced digital signature (keycode) SecuROMT is offering
an unmatched high compatibility rate (> 99,9 %) with all CD-ROM and DVD-ROM
drives on the market to save you from costly consumer calls to your tech
support helpline. "

And CloneCD makes perfect copies, too :)

Mine is now safely back in the box on the shelf, and I'm using the copy I
made.

Oh really?

So when do I have time to go to work.

What a bunch of hogwash.  There's no way we should have to deal with this
convuluted work around.

The last time I saw "help" that was this
complicated was the advice offered by Zipper and
Microsoft on how to get Crimson Skies to load.
Nothing quite like having to flash the BIOS in
order to get past the splash screen.....

Actually the process is not as Sierra describes it, at least not as
difficult.  I wonder who writes these things?  Here they***things up and
then like a bunch of buffoons they compose a fix that by their estimation
takes longer than it should.

First, you do not need to be in 640x480 resolution: any will do.  Second,
you don't have to be in Direct 3D mode: OpenGl will do.

Just disable the joystick port, start the game, atl-tab out, re-enable the
port, go back in, select "direct input" (the one at the bottom-- not sure
what it's called), calibrate wheel, and you're all set.
I wasn't able to calibrate wheel when I had the top button selected.

Despite this, we shouldn't have to do all this ***and a fix is warranted.

Damnit, when will people learn? The ONLY effect of copy protection is
to inconvenience legitimate customers. It has been this way for twenty
years.

Why do they insist on inflicting this punishment on their customers?
It has NO EFFECT on piracy whatsoever. Thank goodness for
gamecopyworld. The crack will be up there in days if it isn't already.

Seems to me the only thing it would deter them from doing is keeping
the game. They'll return the flawed product to the store.
