3D setting in GPL gives me problems! HELP!

by George Papaioanno » Fri, 13 Aug 1999 04:00:00

I recently added a new 32meg video card with the TNT2/Ultra
chipset to my computer.  I removed the standard issue 8 meg
STB card, both of which were AGP cards.  My favorite game
is GPL, and was hoping to improve the graphics in that game.
In the setup options, there is three settings available to
me for 3D - 3DFX, None, Rendition.  I would first like to know if
I can expect better graphics by selecting one of these settings,
and if so - which one?  So far I have toggled all three on, but
when I try to "Exit the Game" to apply these changes, it asks me
to save options before exiting, and there is NO DAMM save button.
Is it being saved anyway, I doubt it because there is no change
in my graphics no matter which option I select.

I would appreciate any and all responses to help me smooth-out
these Pixel-ated graphics I am looking at.

The TNT2 with be unable to use either GPL's 3dfx or Rendition
rasterizers, but there is an OpenGL rasterizer available from the GPL
section of www.papy.com  As far as the same option goes, click the
green button in the lower right to exit the options screen, don't
press ESC or use the red one in the lower left.

Then you should have gotten a 3dfx voodoo3 3000 video card
instead of the TNT2. I am interested in how you arrived at your
purchasing decision???

It is well known that the 3D accelteration of the game was originally
written only for Glide (3dfx chipsets) and Rendition. I saw the Eric
said the game would work with OpenGL. I didn't know about that.
