F1RS turning

by tony s w cheun » Tue, 05 May 1998 04:00:00

Hello Folks,

I am using a TM PFCS to control my F1 car in the F1RS (with v1.09 patch)
but my F1 car cannot turn enough even I push my joystick all the way
right (or left).  For anything higher than a slow turn, my car would not
turn enough (i.e., understeer) and ends up on the gravel.  I tried
different sentivisity setting & my stick was calibrated properly.  Any
other settings that I can try.

Thanks.

Tony

Hi Tony,

I had the same problem and updated my Win95 to Win95 A (service pack
available for download at Microsoft). No more problems since.

Three things spring to mind straight away?

1) Make sure you are not just going *too fast* for the corner!!!

2) The default set-ups suffer badly from understeer, so you need to
reconfigure the car set-ups, eg:- add more front wing, or reduce rear
wing, lower ride height, raise and lower springs as appropriate, etc.
(Or just download a few car set-ups from the net)

3) Increase the steering angle to get the car to turn in more. NB-
this can lead to even worse understeer at fast corners if you overdo
it?
