I saw the Oversized Display box in Software Etc. today ( i hate the way they
think they gotta make me drool over a game for 2 months before they even put
it out on the shelf, I feel Like im being
Herded Around like cattle or something)Anyway has anyone got any news on
this new hot Nascar sim?

It's a "normal" racing arcade game.  And it has the Brickyard.  Nothing more
to say. I wouldn't waste any time on it, if I was you.  Nothing really
serious, mostly fun arcade bing-bang pedal to metal action.

Get Nascar Racing 1999 by Sierra Sports.  And next week hop on the NROS Free
Zone.  yes FREE ! :)

P.S.: I seriously feel that the EA Sport racing game engine is OLD and
unrealistic.  It's about time they upgrade it.  Their game engine is more
than 3years old. Actually the first Andretti Racing title has the same game
engine as NRevolution.  <insert Ubisoft comments> hehehehe

WHy? Get N2 or the 50ann. edition.  Same game, same graphics...no trucks,
less expensive. :)  Ooo.  Get 2 free tracks of warp filled racing for free.
Woohoo.  Or pay 13 bucks a month for warp filled racing on most of the
WC/BGN tracks (none of the updated tracks though). ;)  For someone who is
"retiring" from NROS, ymenard, you sure do hock Papyrus and NROS. ;)

Yeah, this may definetly be the case.  However, the graphics and sound were
definite pluses of the demo.   However, I'd still like to wait to pass
judgement until the game actually comes out and the sim mode can be
tried....;)  Here's hoping that SportsCarGT doesn't use the same engine. :?

How can you sit and promote Nascar99, then trash  Nascar Revolution,
claiming its graphics engine is "old"?  Nascar99's graphics are *FAR* worse,
and haven't been updated for years.

I played the Nascar Revolution demo, and LOVE it.  And will buy it when it
comes out.

The only people who don't like it are the total die hard Simulation
fanatics.  Seems whenever a new game comes out, the Simulation fans start
trashing it immediatey.   Go race a real car if your that picky about it.

Im saying it because it has the NROS software on it.  And that even if the
game engine is somehow old, at least it's realistic to the limit they could
put it (as opposed to the half-dozen EA titles that they published and had
no realism in their simulation mode).

And If you never raced on the NROS or Hawaii you can't say anything about
online racing ;-)

Oh is it you, Chris Schletter still paying your 39$ per 3months on the NROS
? Ah so your having fun heh ? ;-)

I said NR99 because it's only 29$ in most of the stores, and included more
tracks, trucks (with altered physics) and windows enablers + double file
restart.

And I was always pro-TEN (as I am a NROS Guide) and pro-Papyrus (as they are
the leaders in the industry).  And as for my retirement from the NROS, it
will not be completly, and it's for more reasons than you think (related to
some stuff in real-life I don't want to say).

SportsCar GT doesn't use a similar engine of course ;-)

I couldn't have said it better. I plan on getting it myself. If you want to
do a race via modem let me know. Btw that's the problem they can't drive the
real thing so they act it out through the game. I say get a life it's only a
game, i'm out !

Te reason why we do this is because the arcade racers are made out to be
sims in advertising by the companies, plus you arcade junkies bring your
games up for discussion in a simulation newsgroup. Oh yeah please by the
game for 50 bucks, I stick with a free Nascar 99 edition from sierra and
race thousands of people from all over the world thank you very much. All I
hope NR does is take you idiot acraders from racing on TEN then we can get
some good hardclean racing done. Now get off the internet and go play your
Test Drive 5!!!!

TC, check more closely, and you will notice that ymenard said that the
Sierra Sport racing *game* engine is old, as opposed to the *graphics*
engine.  You are talking about two completely different things.  The
game engine models physics, the graphics "engine" would handle, err,
graphics.

Your argument seems to be that graphics appearance (otherwise known as
"eye candy" in RAS and elsewhere) is more important than accurate
physics.  If that is your preference, you may wish to try sitting,
with your game pad, in front of a large picture or painting of a race
car, which arguably would be better *looking* than any computer
sim/game.  For added effect, you could have the Rodster come over, and
shake said picture/painting vigorously, while shouting "VROOM!
VROOOOOM!" for the full arcade experience.

To be taken with one (1) grain salt.

I gripe about NROS/TEN/N2 as much as the next person, but there is one
thing to be considered.

There is _nothing_, anywhere, of any kind, that comes close to doing
what they do.

That's not an excuse for them.  They can, and should be, doing better
(especially weekend staffing to take care of server problems).

But, there is nothing to replace it right now.

One word - WarBirds.

They've been doing multi-player *** with up to 120 planes fying in any
given arena for over two years now.  TEN ain't new, and it certainly
ain't the "only one".

At a few hundred miles per hour latency matters little when "close"
means "less than a mile". At 200mph and six inches distance latency
starts to take on rather a new aspect.

Cheers!
