Great shots, but there is this one mnzroadstrj.jpg that puzzles me. It
looks like the cars drive counterclockwise on the banking. Or is it
a Indycar-race ?

It is. The description of the jpg (move your mouse over it) says it all...

Thanks for the link Bruce.  By the way, if any of you are ever in Japan, the
Honda Museum shown further down the page at the link above is definitely
worth a visit.  The museum itself is part of a Honda complex at the Motegi
Super-Ring near Utsunomiya, northwest of Tokyo.  Their F1 collection is
simply amazing, and it's only a small part of the complex.

Hmm...I wonder if anyone checked to see if there was an unusual amount of
dings on the front of that RA300 =)

You know what would be funny?  Get Surtees racing in GPL...and see if he
either rearends someone or gets rearended by 'himself' =)

They did run the banked section in both directions (although most normally
clockwise). In Piero Taruffi's ''The Technique of Motor Racing' there is a
picture of US roadsters running anti-clockwise in the 1957 500 miles race &
one of the author in the record breaking 500cc twin boom TARF (cross
between a motorbike & car - think of a catamaran construction with the
driver sitting in one of the pods) also running anti-clockwise in 1954.

Cheers,
Richard

There is a caption that appears when the mouse curser is on the graphic,
Olav, and it states that they're Indy roadsters and are running in the
opposite direction normally taken on the course.

Ok, I have a question. In looking at these great photos, (thanks for
hosting them) I am confused as to the pit, in the photo labeled
Monza_1960_1.jpg there is a tower and some buildings, are the pits
behind this building? not built yet? The area there does not look wide
enough.

That link is really cool but does anyone else have any other links to old
Monza pics?  I have been there before and I am going there this September to
watch the F1 race so i am quite interested in seeing them!
Thanks!
