GamePorts in Win95 with Pnp16 card installed take 7,000,000

I know there is always information regarding game port configuration in
Windows 95.   Too bad I never read it before now.  The problem I have is
getting Windows 95 to use my CH game port and disabling my Creative Labs
SoundBlaster Pnp 16's game port.  The result is that neither port works in
Windows 95 - except of course the buttons - which work on either port.  I
cannot find any place to disable the SB-16's game port in Windows 95 and
cannot find information on Creative Labs WEB page on it.   The info on
CHProducts web page simply states that you MUST disable any sound boards
game port to get there port to work in Windows 95.   This used to work fine
with my old MediaVision card which did have a check box for disabling the
game port.

Thanks in advance,  /TomH

pssst don't let this out, but go to Thrustmaster's site and scan the
info they have for their gamecard.  There are some good tips there on
beating the SoundBlaster into submission.  They have about 5 different
methods, hopefully one of them will work.

Here is what worked for me ....

Use Control Panel - System - Device Manager.  Remove the sound cards game
port.  Then Double click the computer icon and select the Reserve Resource
tab.  Reserve the I/O range from 201-209.  Finish and reboot.  Also remove
the check mark from original configuration for the sound boards game port
(I am not sure if this is necessary - but I did it).  Can't remember if I
booted again.   Now install the game port driver you want to use.  I used
the Microsoft game port driver for my CH game port.  This complains of a
device conflict - don't worry about it.   Finish this and reboot again.
Now enter the device manager again and set the Original configuration check
mark.  This should now have your game port working.   If this does not work
for you - try some of the other hints on the www.thrustmaster.com web page.

You lucky bastard.  With my CH game port board and my Creative Labs SB16
PnP both installed, my computer won't even boot.  You may want to examine
the SoundBlaster on the off chance it has a jumper to disable to joystick
port.  Mine doesn't even though the documentation shipped with the board
says it does.

What are other people out there doing?  Anyone make a good sound card
without a joystick port?
