How about this:  Add another version of GPLRank (or maybe just another
listing) that converts all of the tracks laptimes to speeds in MPH (or maybe
km/h if you're some metric fanatic) and just add those together for the new
style of handicapping.  That way, while one can gain 7, 10, 30, even 60
seconds on one's PB at the Ring in one lap, it will result in about as equal
a increase in standings as dropping from 1.29 to 1.28 at Monza, since the
times have been weighted for the distance.  The current way is good, but
somewhat flawed (in my mind that is) because if you, say, change your
driving style so you gain .01 in each turn at any track, you get only an
extra .07 at Monza, but an extra 1.74 at the Ring!

I tend to agree with you...BUT

It is much harder to increase your average speed per lap on a fast circuit
than on a slow circuit because on a fast circuit the gain you can have on a
corner is somewhat "diluted" in the large amount of time you spend "full
throttle".

Don't the GPL RANK people do a sort of coefficient setting so that nurburg
counts more than Watkins becasue the lap is longer ?

In fact yes, that's interesting, how is calculated the handicap ? Adding all
lap times from all tracks ? making a ranking from each tracks and then play
with it ?

A metric fanatic (I'm too stupid to play with so-many inches equals so many
feet equals one pound divided by 3 gallons...imperial gallons or US ?)

Doesn't this argument work more against your idea? I mean should getting
7 corners right on one track equal getting 174 corners right on another?
That doesn't seem right IMO

If your asking how GPLRank calculates your handicap. The sum of the 11 original
included replays is 25:20.22, that's THE STANDARD to which we compare
ourselves. You sum up your times from your Best Laps page, find the difference
between your sum and the standard, (GPLRank does this for you) and that number,
in seconds, is your handicap.
