Just installed everything (including the cars) and when I run N2 the
program crashes just before the intro screen.

My system:

Cyrix 200+
40mb RAM
no 3d card

UNIVBE not installed..

Any suggestions?

Did it ever run before? Prob#1-Cyrix, Prob#2-no 3d card. I have the same
problem with my P2-400 with 128megs and STB V4400 AGP card. I have gave up
on it. I have tried everything to get it to run, and no go. This is without
any add-ons at all. I have gotten a lot of responses from this group on my
problem, but none seem to work. I have N2 and the BGN Expansion Pack with
the patches. It runs on my old AMD K6-233 in 3dfx fine, but I gave that to
my son. So now I am without my N2.........I am very hesitant to buy N1999
because of this problem too. Good luck......hope it is better than mine.

  How many track directories do you have??  N2 has a limit I think of 16 or
18.  the BGN expansion
ups that to 32 and although I don't have it, I have heard NR299 allows
possibly up to 64.  If yer running the
Touring cars...(good choice btw) move all the oval track dirs out of the
N2\tracks folder and you should be up and running.

It maybe a problem with your video card not being able to switch from
the mode for the intro smack video.  Try running it directly from the
nascar2.exe file instead.  Or edit the n2.bat file and remove the
smackply line.
