ACT LABS & GP2

Hi everyone!

I can't seem to get my newly bought wheel to work in GP2. The wheel is a
serial connected ACT LABS Force RS and I run the game in emulated
dos-mode in win95. My guess would be that the game tries to communicate
with the controller via the game port and doesn't poll the serial port.
Is there a solution to this problem. I know the game is old, but what a
goodie! Hence, I would really like to get it to work.

Regards, Roger Andersson

There is no solution. The ACT LABS Force RS will only function
with a Windows 95/98 game. GP2 is an older DOS game.

Won't work.

That is weird. Since the Logitech FF USB wheel will work with
DOS games (except N2/NR1999) I assumed that the ACTLabs
wheel would too. I wonder what the difference is?

Roger: Did you set the ACTLabs wheel up on ID#1 in the
control panel applet???

I don't know. The ACT LABS is Windows only. It uses
the DirectX joystick control exclusively, IIRC.

Yep, I always just specify one controller in the game controller applet.

Supposedly the Logitech wheel is too. Also the CGW review
on the wheel specifically mentions it is not DOS compatable
(even in a DOS box). I have since corrected the reviewer :-)
The docs for the wheel does say it will work in a DOS box.
The problem with the ACTLabs wheel could simply be in
the driver.

Hi!

Yes, this is the only joystick device I have and it is set on ID #1.

Could something go wrong if I try to use the LWFF drivers just when I drive
GP2?
