GP2 mod for rFactor released

Open wheel fans, there's something new to play around with in rFactor.  A
GP2 mod has been released.  If you don't know, GP2 is the new feeder series
for F1, replacing the former F3000 series.  I believe Nico Rosberg won the
first championship and he's now driving for Williams.

Anyway, grab the mod here:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Either the 7 part or the single file release.

Some discussion of the mod at RSC is here:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/

I just got it installed myself so I'm not sure how it is yet, but the
public feedback I've seen on it is good so far.

Only did a couple of laps at Orchard Lake R/C, but so far I like it. The
rear end is a bit twitchy, but I guess this could be cured by some setup
work, sound is great and so are the graphics.

Cheers, uwe

Oh, I thought they'd finally got it sorted well enough that it could emulate
the old Crammond sim ;-)

I didn't like the default***pit camera, so I modified the camera file.

If you feel the same, maybe try these settings.  First go to:
C:\Program Files\rFactor\GameData\Vehicles\GP2 SERIES

Backup the GP2_cams.cam file.

Replace the***PIT section to be:

LocalCam=COCKPIT
{
  Fov=(75.000000, 60.000000)
  Clear=TRUE
  Color=(164, 218, 249)
  ClipPlanes=(0.0225000, 500.000000)
  LODMultiplier=(1.000000)
  MipmapLODBias=(0.000000)
  Size=(1.000000, 1.000000)
  Center=(0.500000, 0.500000)
  Flags1=(0)
  Flags2=(0)
  RadiusLimits=(0.000000, 0.000000)
  OrientationRate=(999.000000, 999.000000, 999.000000)
  PositionOffset=(0.000000, 0.1500, 0.4000000)
  OrientationOffset=(-0.030000, 0.000000, 0.000000)
  Radius=(0.000000)

I didn't know if it had to be in a different folder or not. I didn't use the
default folder when I originally installed the game. Thanks, I'll give it a
try..

John Smith says...

I think mine asked and it was a default location. It'll be obvious even
if you don't understand French.

Sure, but the first time I tried it there was a limit to how far I could
position it.  Then I decided I wanted to change the FOV and it was just
easier for me to set it in the file with the F3 mod as reference.

Hehe, those familiar with sparkling wine and champagne would instantly
know what "sec" means. ;-)

So, who is familiar with champagne? Well, those winning races, of
course... Uwe can't have won many. Huhuhuh

And, btw, it is spelled "pluie". ;-)

Sure I haven't, but you're correct, "secco" and "prosecco" is what
provided the hint ;)

Cheers, uwe
