J.D.,
Well, I'm spoiled 'cuz Brent Adams' LRP is so damn good. I've put in many,
many laps at the real Lime Rock, both racing & testing cars, and Brent's
version feels just like the real thing to me. (And his Mountain Circuit
seems exactly like what we might have had if it had ever been finished.)
Olbuck's version is not only as geographically flawed as Papy's pathetic
Mid-Ohio (which at least captured most of Mid-O's rthythms), but it also has
none of the RW Lime Rock's flow.
I have no problem with somebody cutting his designer's teeth on LRP, or any
other RW track, but my hand will shoot up with it misses the mark by a
country mile and somebody who's never driven the RW track chimes in and says
it's "great." It ain't.
I miss being online, too. I only have a limited amount of time for sim
racing ATM, and for some inane reason have chosen to drive Cup cars (not
T/As) on road courses...and can't find anybody online to play with.
Speaking of which, I see that Lou Magyar has finally released a beta of his
Bridgehampton for GPL. He's managed to get everything right except the
scenery! Now THERE'S a road course! I watched Cup cars (or GNs, as they
then were) race there in the 60s. Looking forward to a N2003
conversion...hopefully.
