SCGT GT3 to easy???

by Schlom » Mon, 03 May 1999 04:00:00

Im running thru my career mode trying to get cars and whatnot and it seems that
GT3 is too easy.  I easily won the GTQ series with a Porsche 911 and sold that
for my present Porsche 911 RSR (the one with the Tiger/Shark Paint scheme).  I
won the first 3 races and added alot of things to it.  Now at Road Atlanta i
have a 499hp car with 400lbs of torque and a top speed of about 155 at the end
of the straight leading into the chicane before the dell.  I am simply KILLING
the AI cars. Now i dont have the AI set to max level and im using original
physics (i know i know shame on me).  But still with AI set to about 75% im
pulling away by about 2-3 secs a lap.  Do the AI cars not buy upgrades or what?
I really like the game but this disparity in speed is taking some of the fun
out of it.  Do the Advanced Physics make it harder to run away? If i could
change this one aspect it would keep me hooked on SCGT for a long time (i
though GPL was ***ing).  Any comments on this would be appreciated.

First of all, set the AI to MAX on your next season, there really is a big
difference. Second, do get the Advanced Options editor. I don't know if it
makes the AI harder, but the increased difficulty of the physics on "Pure
Simulation" mode make it so that you will have to take the corners a bit slower
- and the corners are where the AI seems to have problems with their speed.

Nothing conclusive here, but after the physics patch I fired up a quick race
at Chatham.  I was DEFINITELY slower through the big corner, still was able
to catch the AI after this going into the kink, but not as much as before.
I spun early on, damaged the car and got a lap down.  Was racing the 9th
place Porsche for 5-6 laps before I got around him, got by some cars easier
but it seemed to bring me closer to the AI using the patch (and using Max AI
setting).

Fun racing :-)

SCGT GT3 to easy???

They buy em and use em.  When I did my Career,  I only bought items when I
was starting to get behind and not able to stay with AI.  It was more fun
that way.  North Point was wild racing AI with no upgrades for me.  I
really had to work to stay ahead of them.

GT3 was a bit different since I did buymods right off after practise at
Desert Speedway.  The AI just seemed to know better how to get around
there.  I did win that race and then started mopping up with the mods.
Lime Rock was a real blow out.  right now I am waiting for AI to catch with
mods so it will be harder again.  I do wish there was a way to make AI
faster.  I am running them on the fastest setting.

GT3 at Desert Speedway with Slippery grass option I can go into the first chicane at nearly full speed and the AI cars slow down and
weave through the pilons. also the other corners can be straightened by cutting through the dirt. I see why they made you slow down
on the grass and dirt with the original setting.

There is! :)

You can make the AI Faster thru corners, by editing you "name".plr file
in your "save game" dir...

The AI now ranges from: 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00

I Have set mine to 2.00....though they seam to get a little bit to "wild",
they are much faster thru corners...

Here is how i did it:

Just open your "name".plr file in Zipit...choose view...edit the values with
word.exe...
...save (dont close zipit) ...go to windows Temp dir....find your "name".plr
file...
drag it to desktop....close zipit and replace your new "name".plr file in
your
save game dir....launch SCGT :)

See you online when (If) the internetpach arrives !

The game really needs black and caution flags! :)

Jeez.  Aren't these things the first things you'd try if you found it too
easy?  C'mon folks.

Anyway, to answer you: yes it gets tougher (what a suprise) if you make the
competitors more competitive.  As to the physics, it certainly makes you
slower.  But I don't know if it makes them slower.

That's a good Q. I suspect they do given that some of them are plain faster
than my modified car.   Anyone know for sure?

Me, I instantly fired it up with the most difficult AI and the advopt patch
for the more realistic physics.  I'm in GT3 and am generally finishing first,
now that I know the courses.  Since I ran so many laps of Lime Rock with
the demo, I'm especially quicker there.  But it wasn't that way when I
first played it.  And I still haven't figured out that damned Sardian Park
yet.  Plus when I***up, I can lag behind.  Haven't advanced to GT2 yet.
Road Atlanta has become my present favorite.

I dont have Zipit but I have Winzip. I viewed the file once with wordpad, but now all I get is a weird mix of characters. What do I
need to do to view and change the AI?
