SCGT - Is there an easy way to add tracks?

by bernie eccl » Tue, 28 Aug 2001 05:09:33

I have just re-discovered SCGT and was hoping to try some of the add-on
tracks.  I found a link to Road America and downloaded it.  However, I can't
work out how to install it.  I did a bit of digging and read something about
Maspuce, but this seems very complex.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Get the "Ban Scene.mas" patch from
http://www.theuspits.com/fbody/scgt/index.html.  This eliminates the
need to use Maspuce to install the tracks.  In fact I just installed
Road America today, and thanks to the Ban Scene.mas patch I did not have
to do anything other than unzip the files into the correct folders, as
indicated in the readme file that came with the track.

Thanks. That works great and is nice and simple. Just what I need!
Couple of more questions.

1. Is it possible to increase the draw distance?  At Road America it looks
as if the cars are driving in the sky.

2. Is there a similar patch for F1 2000 CS?  Does the same one work?
(I am too frightened to try it in case it screws it up.)

Cheers

I don't think there are any similar patches for F1CS2K, and I don't
think you want to try using the SCGT patch, but I don't think you need
it either.  I have found SCGT->F1CS2K conversions of Laguna Seca and
Road Atlanta, and I'm pretty sure all I had to do was drop everything in
the correct directories and they just worked without any further mucking
around.  BTW if you need to mess with .mas files in F1CS2K I think you
need an updated .mas file editor, I don't think Maspuce will work.
There are several .mas file editors for F1CS2K available at
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/.  Some of the things you might want to
change in F1CS2K can be done through Magic Box, also available at that
site.

I have never run Road America in SCGT.  Where did this track come from?
Is it a CPR conversion or one from the Cart patch?

I think it's a CPR conversion. Pretty nice too and there it's still a work
in progress. 1:33's in my GTP car so far :)

I see from a later post that you have found Road America.  However, I got it
from :-
http://www.scgtworld.racesim.net/track.htm

and am about to try out Portland.  I also found some useful files at :-
http://www.btinternet.com/~sean.stafford/  or
http://www.btinternet.com/~sean.stafford/SCGT_exes/
