New track needed for GPL

We have the PantsRing, UndiesRing, and I think one other similar "skid
pad" style track.  But what we don't have is a track to test strait line
properties...

Fuel mileage, Terminal speeds, Quarter mile speeds, Braking distances,
et...

RemcoRing is the closest we have to what's needed but I'm thinking we
(We, I, et..) need something slightly different.  Something with two very
long flat and level straits, with two wide radius turns (wide enough not to
lose speed while going around them).  and markers all along the track
indicating distance from the start/finish line.  This is more or less just
for curiosity sake..

I'd like to know specific numbers for each marquee and each class, and
each exaggeration of..  Last season I tried to get some numbers by using the
Taladega converted track, but unfortunately I only got generalized numbers.
I couldn't get to top speed because the turns would be there before I
reached it and the climb entering the banked turns slowed me down by a
little, even for the F3's.  I did find out that tire pressures, drafting and
being drafted, made a difference in fuel mileage but I never got specific
numbers.  Be nice to be able to get specific numbers with a track as
suggested above. anyone interested in creating such a track? ;-)

I thought about Avus, But if I remember right, there is a couple three
very sharp turns(?).  Can't get accurate mileage with 15 gallons and at 2
gallons, and again being drafted and drafting.  Also, the need for distance
markers,  such as maybe a sign at every 1/10th mile and a different sign at
every 1 mile..  you get the picture.  Just something for curiosity testing
of each marquee and class.  The current crop of tracks can't provide the
data needed.

Come to think of it,  be nice to have the same test track for WSC when
that comes out ;-)

Hmm... a really big version of Undiesring shouldnt be a problem..
Diameter should be large enough to allow Brabham/Hondas drafting
around with a huge margin to tire squeal, I guess?
(maybe this means, we need some banking to shorten the laptimes)
Maybe I'll give it a shot.. (dont expect any graphic enhancements
or AI)
Now I'm really curious about the size you need for that one :)

Ok, I did a quick test.
I made an oval, straight is 500m, and every 180 deg. turns
consists of 6 500m segments (diameter 1910m).
Even in these turns, my Lotus looses more than 15 km/h
compared to its topspeed (303 km/h in the turns without
setup tuning)...
Even little steering input costs speed.
Conclusion: banked turns are needed..

Banked turns also cost speed - at least from the physical point of view.
