I have a friend who I race online on a private server.
we loaded each others  .car files on each machine
but when we race each other our cars are not selected.
he sees the default papy 83 car and I see my 3 car but its all green no
logos and his car on my computer is the 83 but is all green no logos either.
what have we done wrong?

Are you positive you both have picked the correct car(s) for
multiplayer?  The Player Info screen has TWO car selection options, one
for single player and a second for multiplayer (people often forget to
set the multiplayer one).  Also the game only allows one instance of a
car number into a race, so make sure that when the car's were created
through the Opponent Manager that they are using different numbers from
each other as well as any AI that might be in the race with you.

I figured it out we were renaming the 83 car and importing new paintjobs
instead of creating "New Players" and importing our paint jobs
