UNIVBE Utility and Nascar Racing

My roommate has a 1mb Trident video card in a 486/66 with 8mb of
RAM, and has to turn almost everything off including car detail to
keep the framerate at an acceptable level.  He insists on running
with objects turn on, and would like to have car detail turned on
as well.  He is NOT in the position to buy a newer better video
card at this time, so buying new hardware is out of the question.

1) Will UNIVBE work with that card and with Nascar Racing?

2) If the answer to #1 is "YES", where can I get a copy of UNIVBE?

: I can't vouch for the accuracy, but somebody once posted that UNIVBE
only
: works with PCI.  I have the same chip and memory, but have a Stealth
video
: card and a PCI board, and I can run SVGA with car texture on and
off-track
: objects on but no texture and maintain an acceptable frame rate.

UNIVBE works fine with my (ahem) EISA ATI mach32 video card, so I guess it
isn't limited to PCI cards only.  The list of chipsets it supports is
huge, so I guess there's every chance the Trident is on the list.

As for video performance and racing sims, I found the UNIVBE driver to be
a _massive_ improvement over the VESA driver supplied by ATI.  I gained
probably about 3-5 fps improvement.

It also supports DPMS screen blanking, if your monitor is up to it.  All
in all, the best $28 I've spent in a long time :-)

I got my copy of the program off Compuserve, but I imagine it's available
other places at well.  SciTech's toll-free number is 800-4UNIVBE, so you
could call them and check.

I tried this driver (might have been univbe5.1) with a STB 64TrioV+ card and
my computer wouuld lock up during the loading of NASCAR from my CD Player (Wearnes 6X).
Has anyone else gotten Nascar to work with this card?

Should one expect similar performance improvement as what I see in ICR2 (~15-20%)?

Will the UNIVBE driver which came with the ICR2 demo work with NASCAR
Racing?
