Looks just like my VD2 at 640X480.  So, I'll assume that it is supposed
to look like that.

I am getting a funny flywire type texture in the smoke effects in GPL
I am running it at 640 x 480 on a Voodoo 1 so I don't expect the world,
but is this how the smoke should look?  The rest of the game looks great,
although i am getting some funny textures in the black area at the top of
the screen on odd occasions.

Of course it's  how it should be :)

It's the famous pink smoke see through a mosquito screen.  It's well known
as a Glide limitation for all the games.  Only thing is to hope for OpenGL
or D3d for future Papyrus titles :)

Yep, that's how the smoke looks on my V2 as well.  Now, it should look
smooth but thats what we are stuck with on the Voodoo 1 and 2.

To anyone who has the V3, is the smoke still the same?

Jason.

Yep, still the same. Although, you can run at a bit higher resolution
(1024x768) so the mosquito-net effect is not so visible :-)
But the same goes for Voodoo2 too.

Smoke, Smoke,  you guys are worried about smoke,
But i think he has a bigger problem.
a brief examination of the screenshot also convinced
me his video card is only putting out half the picture...
I mean...where are the other two wheels?

Yeah, probably just a 16-bit resolution problem (not enough color
resolution, so alpha-ing doesn't work that well).
