Hmm, sounds nice, but still lacks a bit of growl! I would really like to
have a deep rumble come out of my sub-woofer. I didn't feel that. Maybe
it's just me? In any case, it's a major improvement from previous games.

I think anyone can sample a great engine sound and paste it into an outdated
program.  I'd be impressed if they were showing off a new physics model etc.
Until then...ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.  I'll keep playing a real sim...a.k.a. GPL

Now that reminds me of something I allways wanted to do! That is to
make a tape recording of my Harley's engine sound and convert it to
different formats for racing games. It would be really great in GPL
with the subwoofer turned all the way up! Might have to play "Born to
be Wild " on your steroo in the background to get the full effect!
Even better yet I could make a tape recording of a 2 stroke dirt bike
for the competion that way it'd even give me more reason to blw them
away!

Yes, I did notice that from the web site AFTER I wrote my post :)
But it does sound promising. You said you drove that type of car
already. Lucky bastard! That's one thing I would really wanna try. LOL!

Take it from someone who has actually driven one of these cars, the sound
is pretty damn close. Also, don't forget that the text describes the file
as an *8-bit* sample, and that the sim will be using *16-bit* samples
when released.

With 16-bit samples and more volume, I think you'll be most pleased.

Personally, I think the sample is a little weak when they lift off the
throttle, but I'll reserve final judgement for when I have the sim
installed.

for you impatient people....convert the file yourself to 16-bit...prolong the
clip and buy altec lansings....or better yet...loop the clip haha..whatever you
gotta do to get your nuts off...!!!

What the hell is that going to accomplish?  You are going to have the same data
as the 8 bit sample.

This is kind of like saying a photograph gets clearer if you blow it up.

Harleys DON'T sound anywhere near like a GP engine of ANY YEAR!!
