N1 Sound & N3 Video

by mike.. » Sun, 24 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Got couple of questions....

My nephew cant get any sounds in N1 (yeah, N1) when installing the
program it does not recognize the soundcard (SoundBlaster 128PCI) and if
I try to do a manual install none of the card selections listed in the
setup menu will work. Does anybody know if N1 will work with this
soundcard?

I have a STB Velocity 128 4meg PCI and want to run N3, what other
type/model of video card would I need to take advantage of N3's
graphics/effects, The only slot left on my machine is an ISA...(BTW I
have 233 mhz and 48 meg ram).

Thanks
Max

Note sure why you would want to race N1 anymore. :)

Your not going to find a ISA video card that will take advantage of
N3's graphics. If i were you I would remove the STB PCI card and get a
card that supports DirectX as well as glide(3dfx). I would recommend a
Voodoo3 PCI card. www.3dfx.com

Try Soundblaster Pro, Address 220, IRQ 5, DMA 1.  Make SURE
your autoexec.bat has "Set Blaster=A220 I5 D1" in it!

Remember that N1 is DOS based. So ya have to make sure you have
your sound configured for DOS support
