It's no wonder Papy delayed N3

Ok, maybe it won't be N3 when it finally hits the shelves, but with all
this complaining about frame rate using the GPL 1.1 patch, I can only
imagine what it would look like here in RAS if we had the once advertised
N3 with a 43 car field and GPL physhics.  Geez.

I get the impression people aren't actually reading the threads - they see a
few "GPL 1.1 framerate problems" threads, and don't bother to find out that
for everybody having problems, there are AT LEAST five people who can say
they've seen no framerate hit at all with 1.1.   I know I didn't see any
difference on my machine - C450 (oc'ed 400), TNT, 256mb, running GPL at
1024X768, Logitech FFW.

I'd say a 1 in 5 or 20% fail rate would put most companies out of business
if this was a commercial concern.

Except that complainers always make more noise than happy customers, so it's
only the people who are most intent on saying how pleased they are that are
trying to counteract the whingers............

On MANY systems there has been no report of frame-rate problems. Keep
in mind that different FF wheels use different amounts of CPU time.
There's nothing Papy can do about that.

And who says that a frame-rate hit for new force-feedback features is a
"failure"?  You don-t get something for nothing.

I'd rather have the frame-rate, then a gimmick.

To me this "performance problem" still is a smoke screen. I don't think,
anybody had the system to run a full field in N1 or N2 (before the Rendition
patch), I remember how I struggled through the slideshows in ICR1/2.

I would rather have consistant and reliable on-line play than FF
anyday.  Hope you can find someone to race with on VROC that doesn't
dissapear on you as you manhandle your FF wheel around a virtual
track..
Cheers,
Ron

Dang Ron, everyone leaves me behind.... FF or not. I've found v1.1 to be
much smoother on-line nevertheless.
