I am not a member of the press. The press release, IMO, is for Papyrus or
Sierra to post. I just don't want to step on anyone's toes.

I am a beta-tester for Papyrus and under non-disclosure with them. The press
release is VERY positive!! Don't read something into what I am saying that
isn't meant to be said.

You'll see it soon enough.

Well, since the rumors have made it to the newsgroup, and so that everyone
isn't in the dark. Yes, Sierra on Line acquired Papyrus Design Group as of
November 30, 1995.

Though the news is not yet on either Papyrus' or Sierra's Web Sites, I would
expect that the Press Release should be available on Sierra's Web Site by
Monday. When it is available, go to:

http://www.sierra.com

I do have a copy of the Press Release, but in respect for both Papyrus and
Sierra, I will not post it here. I will say that this was not, in any way,
shape or form a "hostile" takeover by Sierra, but a joining of forces between
the two software develoment teams. The press release states that *VERY*
clearly.

This acquisition does NOT mean that Papyrus was "absorbed" by Sierra and no
longer exists, so don't get all paranoid and start blasting flames at Sierra or
Papyrus.

I have worked, as a beta-tester, for Papyrus for over two years now and they
are a great group of people. They will NOT cease to exist! This, IMO, is a
great move for Papyrus and the benefactors of this will be you and I. The
customers of Papyrus who have enjoyed their excellent, award-winning race
simulations that are second-to-none, IMO. Sierra will also gain by adding the
Papyrus Development Team to their very impressive portfolio.

I, for one, am looking forward to more excellent motorsports simulations from
Papyrus in 1996!! (Press release states that!)

NOTE: Please do NOT email me for any information, I know nothing other than
what is stated in the press release, and even if I did, I would not tell you,
under punishment of death! ;-)

Even leaving this post is "marginal," but it was posted sincerely to quell the
impending rumor-mill on UseNet.

I'm curious why information in a press release (that's the thing released
to the media in hopes that they will publish the information in it) is
somehow sacred and not postable. Is this some new form of press release
that we should know about?

Ah, a press release with "if you read it we'll have to kill you" attached.
This *is* a new thing.

Really? Why?

Mark,

Yup....Net life really sucks sometimes. But since neither Sierra or Papyrus has
seen fit to post the news, I *will* take the time, type this thing in, and post
it. Sheesh!

I somehow knew that I should have just let to rumors fly and let Rick deal with
it.
