Nope that didn't work. I even did the reformat and after working once it is
freezing again. I'm beggining to think it is likely a DirectX8.0a issue. I
reinstalled my video drivers and DirectX with no luck either. I'm not using
anything unusual, GeForce MX 2 on a Genuin Intel Motherboard P4 1.5 GHz 512
RAM with USB Microsoft SideWinder Forcefeedback Wheel. Nascar3 works fine.
Nascar4 refuses to work.

What versioni of video drivers are you using on your system? Seems to me
like there was a version of DirectX8 that expired or timed out....Did you
try running N4 in  D3D just to see if your problem is Opengl or DirectX
related?

I'm using the latest video drivers from Nvidia, 21.83 and i did try both
openGL and D3D and selected the lowest resolution (800X600) just to see if
it would work. NOT!!! I find this very strange indeed.

if you open the app.ini file it has a setting for playing the intro
sequences or not...0=no  1=yes

Tryed that too. It skips the intro but gets stuck on the Papyrus splash
screen.

just a thought....you have the cd in right?  you do not run the "No-CD"

Yup, the CD is in when I start. No CD hacking here. All I have changed since
it was working was to add a new monitor and reinstall directX 8.0a

Have you changed sound cards. You may want to try reinstalling your sound
card drivers. Thats what I found to be my problem when I couldn't get past
the startup screen.

I'd like to thank you guys for taking the time out to respond to my
question, but still can't get it to work. I updated the drivers for the
soundcard as well last night but it didn't make a difference. I sent an
email to sierra support as well. We'll see if they have any suggestions. The
only other thing I can think of doing is actually calling them.
