In the past Thrustmaster service was great.... repair for free, etc.

I sent 3 e-mail at the support service since a month....no answer !

Do you know where i can find pots for T2.... Radio shackk ?

I just checked it out. I previously ordered replacement parts thru their
"service department". Looks like the winds of change have blown on
Thrustmaster. The only item I am now allowed to order is a spring for the
brake or throttle. Perhaps it excludes certain items since I ordered
replacement pots in March of this year? Either that or they don't want to
keep supplying these parts free?

But to get the parts in the first place you need to register your controller
using it's serial number. Try it!

Ah...they are onto us then. We can no longer keep their product functioning
after the inferior quality parts wear out. Looks like it is soon time to buy
a new wheel.

This sounds like a discussion we had on continuing software updates.  How long
should we expect a company to provide parts(or patches) for a product they no
longer MAKE...?  On one hand, it sounds like the customers are forced to buy
the 'latest thing'  On the other hand, the item was phased out for a REASON...

If you need any parts other than springs, then you are going to have to
call Thrustmaster and order them directly.

Is the Nascar Pro phased out?  Time to get another wheel then.

T2 pots (Thrustmaster service ?)

by Tore Hanso » Fri, 09 Jul 1999 04:00:00

I received parts other than the springs as of March 1999. In fact I replaced
all of the pots. Probably the wheel was still in warranty. I don't expect to
get replacement parts endlessly, but then the Thrustmaster Wheel doesn't
have a long lifespan. I would say 2 years including maintenance, is about
all that can be expected, which isn't a bad investment as far as I'm
concerned, especially in the worls of computer electronics.

My T2 is still "working" but you would hardly recognize it after all the
modifications I made to keep it running. It lasted about 2 years and while
it still works it's very sloppy. My Nascar Pro is about a year old and i
have added a new bungee cord, springs and pots. I had to re-wire the buttons
because the factory wiring broke.

After almost 3 years of sim racing I'm ready for a serious wheel. I think
I'm going to stay with it <g> My dilema now is, will FF be worth it or
should I get a quality wheel without FF. Money is still an issue.

While talking with Thrustmaster on the phone, it seems that they felt
too many folks were "stockpiling" parts by taking advantage of ordering
them for free over their web page service.  Therefore, they have
basically only allowed web ordering of parts that they feel most people
have been ordering for actual replacement.  You can still get some parts
sent for free, but it looks like you will have call their tech support
number.  You may still have a long wait, but of late, the waiting time
has been a lot shorter than in the past.
