3DO files for GPL , what do they do?

by scooter » Tue, 21 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I was in process of d/l of new Snetterton track and one of the required
d/l's is a 3do file . A choice of 3 small, medium or large.

I stopped at that point as I don't know what these files do and which one I
should d/l?

Why are they required? I have downloaded other tracks (brands etc) which
made no mention of these.

While on the subject of d.l's..setups and sound files how are these
installed. For example a sound file may be *.wav but my directory only
shows*.dat

I reckon I need a converter  of sorts any help here?

Kinda new (no kidding!) to this game , I expect a few flames..

3do files determine track objects, object locations, graphics used, and where
graphics are placed basically.  They control all the visual aspects of the
track, while the .trk file codes for the actual track surface, wall location,
trees of death locations at Rouen (heh), etc.

Don't have an answer on the 3do but in regards to *.wav, in your sounds folder
you should have a named sounds.dat which is the minimum needed. Any other *.wav
file you add will supplement this file. A well known one is called skidloud.wav
and increases the volume of the skids.
